Help for the Homefront

Has your loved one returned from a military tour of duty? You may be experiencing joy mixed with confusion and frustration. It may be hard to know how to get back to normal. Are you at a loss to understand what they went through and why they are now acting as they are? Are the kids confused?

COMTREA is offering special help for family members of discharged active duty veterans, members of the National Guard, and Reserve components. This includes parents, spouses, children, and others. We will work with you to develop the skills necessary to cope with:

  • Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
  • Substance abuse
  • Physical Injury
  • Loss of a loved one
  • Suicidal thoughts
  • Marital family distress
  • Childhood adjustment challenges
  • Stress

COMTREA is offering therapy sessions with licensed mental health professionals who are trained to understand the impact of deployment on families. The Missouri Department of Mental Health received a special appropriation from the Missouri Legislature to provide these services to veterans’ families as a cooperative effort with Mental Health America of Eastern Missouri and community mental health centers. To make arrangements for these services or to request a presentation regarding the benefits, please call 636-931-2700.

Comtrea Northwest Open House

The COMTREA Northwest office, known as the Betty Seeley Building, was recently opened.   This new outpatient facility is located at 1876 Old Gravois Road in Fenton, Missouri. It will provide after care treatment for residents who have graduated from the Athena Residential program and also for clients enrolled in outpatient counseling programs. Family counseling and education will also be available in this new facility. The location will also provide psychiatric services and medical support for our clients. Our school liaisons will also be based there when they are not physically on site in a school or actively involved with a community project.
